SACI, This Spring, an opportunity from Warren Linn

As many of you might already know, Warren Linn will be teaching this upcoming spring semester 2011 at SACI in Florence. He will run a 6 credit Independent Study group of MICA students doing a semester of Study Abroad. Students will take 2 or 3 additional courses at SACI with offerings including extraordinary Art History and Curatorial Art Restoration classes along with an excellent range of classes fulfilling MICA course requirements. This all takes place right in the center of arguably the most important city in Europe for Renaissance and pre-Renaissance Art and Architecture.

 He will be traveling with the MICA group Jan 11 and returning April 11. We currently have a solid group of 16 students and now have an additional 2 slots available.

 The International Affairs Office has specially extended the deadline to

Nov. 15.

Warren would love to include 2 additional highly motivated Illustration students with strong vision, excellent work ethic, and commitment to Drawing.

Illustration Next, Opening November 7th

Mark your calendars for Illustration Next, a show curated by our own Whitney Sherman. It will consist of MICA alumni work at Case[werks] Gallery, 1501 St Paul St, Baltimore 21202. The opening reception is Sunday Nov 14th at 4pm. You should make an effort to be there. The show explores where illustration is going in the 21st century as exampled by our alumni. The scope of new directions is so vast that not every area could be covered, but I think you'll find it stimulating! See you there.

 

Seminar Assignment, Resume, Short Bio, PR Photo

Here's some tips on putting together your resume, but be creative and flexible.  Make it look great and use your design sense.  Don't forget to also work up a short bio, and a promo photo. Here's the power point we went over in class:

Your materials will be due (via email to me) by October 28th.  Don't forget that next Thursday, October 21st, we will meet again as ONE GROUP at 2:00pm. 

For more help, there will be a RESUME & COVER LETTER workshop on Thursday, October 21st at 12:00 in the Career Development Office.  You can also bring your Resume to Career Development every Monday & Friday between 3-4 pm to have it reviewed.
